About

What is Strongwoman?

Traditionally in the 19th Century Strongman/Woman referred to an

exhibitor of great strength at a fair or show. Today it has evolved into a world recognised strength sport where athletes compete in events exhibiting

great mental and physical strength combined with speed and endurance.

There are a wide variety of possible event combinations for any competition. The more common events in Strongwoman include the yoke, log press, deadlift, atlas stone loading and the famous truck pull.

Its an ideal part of a weight loss and fitness program as many of the exercises in strongman force the athlete to use most of the muscle groups

in his or her body at once for an extended duration.

The sport of strongman/Strongwoman boasts an

incredibly supportive lifting community.

A little bit about Kerryn!

My name is Kerryn Taylor and I am the owner of KSS Personal Training.

I have been a Strongwoman Athlete and Powerlifter since 2016 and started KSS in 2018.

I have lived in Geelong for nearly thirteen years and began my own fitness journey in 2011 with a pursuit to become healthier and happier which completely changed my life!

During my time competing in the sport of strongwoman, I won the title of Australia's Strongest Woman u65kg in 2017 and placed 4th Strongest Woman in Australia in 2018. I was Victoria's Strongest Woman two years running and placed 2nd at the Arnold Classic Strongwoman Championships in South Africa in 2018.

Amongst other accomplishments in the sport, I still hold several National Records in Strongwoman.

After South Africa, I decided to take a break from strongwoman and entered the world of powerlifting. I placed 1st in my first meet, GPC Melbourne Cup 2018 and 3rd in my second meet, GPC Summer Classic 2019. I received an invite to GPC Australian Nationals in 2019 where I placed 5th in Australia.

I then competed again in the 2019 GPC Melbourne Cup where I placed 3rd with a 397.5kg total.

When I began my training journey, I never would have dreamed that I would have achieved what I have in both the sports of strongwoman and powerlifting as well as in my own personal career, personal body struggles and mental health issues. My training to achieve these goals has brought a depth of experience and knowledge to my personal training style which I am very proud of.

I am extremely passionate about empowering women through strength sports and openly share the highs and lows of my own life and health experiences through my blog and on my podcast in the hope of encouraging more women to take their first steps towards a life of health and happiness!
